Getting Started

How do I sign up?

Go to the signup page, enter your store name, mobile number, and a password. Takes 30 seconds. No credit card required.

Do I need a smartphone?

Yes. Saauda runs in a web browser on any modern phone (Android or iPhone) made in the last 5–6 years. It also works on tablets, laptops, and PCs.

How do I install the app on my phone?

See our step-by-step install guide — takes under a minute.

Is there a free trial?

Right now v1 is free while we build. You can sign up and use every feature without paying.

Billing & Products

Do I need to add all my products before I can bill?

Yes, add products first — but you can add them as you go. Add 5 or 10 to start, then keep adding as customers buy new things.

How does the barcode scanner work?

Tap the scan icon. The app uses your phone's back camera. Point at the barcode and it reads it automatically. First time you use it, your phone will ask for camera permission — tap Allow.

Can I sell loose items like rice or sugar by weight?

Yes. When adding a product, choose 'kg' as the unit. At billing, you enter the weight and the app calculates the price.

What if a product doesn't have a barcode?

Use product search instead. Type the name (or part of it) and tap the match.

Can I give discounts?

Yes — you can manually adjust the price of any item in the cart before checkout.

Payments

How do customers pay via UPI?

After checkout, the app shows a UPI QR code on your phone. Customer scans it with PhonePe, GPay, Paytm, or any UPI app, and pays you directly to your bank account.

Do I need a separate UPI merchant account?

No. Saauda uses your personal or business UPI ID. Enter it once in Settings and every bill generates a QR for that ID.

What is a split payment?

When a customer pays part cash and part UPI (e.g. ₹100 cash + ₹150 UPI on a ₹250 bill). Saauda tracks both — tap "Pay in Cash", enter the cash amount, then the UPI button appears for the remaining balance.

Does Saauda take a cut of my payments?

No. UPI payments go directly from customer to you. Saauda never touches your money.

How is change calculated?

At checkout with cash, enter the amount the customer handed you. Saauda shows the exact change to give back.

Baki / Khata (Credit)

What is Baki and how does it work?

Baki (also called udhaar or khata) is when a regular customer takes goods now and pays later. At checkout, tap the orange Baki button instead of UPI/Cash, pick the customer, and the bill goes on their tab. Saauda keeps the running balance for every customer automatically.

How do I add a baki customer?

Go to the Baki / Khata page and tap "Add Customer". Enter their name and phone number — that's it. From the next bill onwards, they'll show up when you tap Baki at checkout.

How do I record a payment against baki?

Open the customer's page from the Baki list. Tap 'Mark Paid', enter the amount and method (cash/UPI), and Saauda updates their balance instantly. Their full payment history stays on their page forever.

Can I add old pending dues to a fresh bill?

Yes. While billing, search for "Previous Due" in the product list — it's a built-in virtual item. Set the amount the customer still owes and add it to the bill so they pay everything together.

Will Saauda remind me about old baki?

Yes. The Alerts page flags any customer whose udhaar is 30 days or older as critical. You'll also see big balances (₹500+) as warnings so you can chase payment before it grows.

Can I send a payment reminder on WhatsApp?

Yes. Open the customer's baki page and tap WhatsApp — Saauda opens WhatsApp with a ready-made statement showing their bills, payments, and the current balance. The customer can also open a public link to view it on their phone.

Can a customer pay only part of their baki?

Yes. Partial payments are fully supported. If the baki is ₹500 and the customer pays ₹200, record it and the balance becomes ₹300. Every part-payment is logged with date and method.

Receipts

Does the customer get a receipt?

Yes. Every bill has a QR code that the customer can scan to view the receipt on their own phone. You can also share the receipt link via WhatsApp.

Can I print receipts?

If you have a printer connected (Bluetooth or USB), you can print from the browser. But most shops skip printing — digital receipts are free and faster.

Can customers see old receipts later?

Yes. Every receipt has a permanent URL. As long as your Saauda account is active, old receipts stay accessible.

Staff

How do I add a staff member?

Go to the Staff page, tap 'Invite Staff', and enter their mobile number. They'll get a signup link. They create their own login.

Can staff see my reports?

No. Staff can bill customers and view products, but only the owner sees sales reports, revenue, and full analytics.

Can I see what each staff member billed?

Yes. The Reports page shows bills per staff member per day.

Updates & Data

What happens if my internet goes out?

Saauda needs an internet connection to bill and save data — most Indian shops today have decent mobile data, so this is rarely a problem. If your connection drops mid-bill, reconnect and try again; nothing you've already saved is lost.

How do I update the app?

You don't need to. Saauda auto-updates in the background. Every time you open it, you're on the latest version.

Is my data backed up?

Yes. All data is stored securely in the cloud and backed up automatically.

Account & Billing

How much does Saauda cost?

See our pricing page. Currently ₹149/month in v1 with everything included.

How can I cancel?

Go to Settings → Subscription → Cancel. Takes one tap. You keep access until the end of your paid month.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Contact us and we'll permanently delete your account and all data within 7 days.

Can I export my data?

Yes. From Reports, tap Export. You'll get a CSV with all bills and products.
